Ribbon Cutting at the Antioch Annex – Miles of Smiles

by Suzanne Licata

On Thursday, October 19th Curry Real Estate Services celebrated with Miles of Smiles at their ribbon cutting honoring their new location at the Antioch Annex.

For the past two years, Miles of Smiles primary office has been at 5536 NE Antioch, which is a 1500 square foot office, with room for two dental operatories. Due to increased demand for our services, we moved down the Annex strip to 5416 NE Antioch,  a 2400 square foot office space where they will have three operatory units. In addition to adding a third operatory unit, they will also install permanent nitrous access for each unit.  Currently, Miles of Smiles uses rolling, portable nitrous tanks which take up a lot of storage space in the operatories and are costly to operate. Permanent nitrous access will improve efficiency and decrease ongoing cost.

Miles of Smiles remains committed to serving the low-income children of Clay and Platte Counties with preventative and restorative dental care in a manner which eliminates barriers to care. They have seen an increased need in appointments outside of the school day – for completion of treatment plans, for urgent care needs, and for the semi-annual recall visits. The number of recalls and finished treatment plans has increased dramatically since they added more office appointments to the schedule two years ago. The demand for office appointments continues to grow. Miles of Smiles has responded with the addition of a third full-time dentist, a move to a larger office and the installation of a third operatory and permanent nitrous access.  The added square footage and staff will improve the efficiency and effectiveness in meeting the growing need for safety net oral health care in the Northland area of Kansas City, Missouri.

Miles of Smiles began seeing patients in their new office space on Wednesday, October 4th.
