Harvesters Community Food Network
In mid-March, 24 Curry employees and family members donated their time to Harvesters, packing lunches for the organization’s BackSnack program for schools.
The program provides children with backpacks filled with healthy food, which they take home for the weekend. For more than 100,000 children within Harvesters’ service area, weekend hunger is a risk. The students receive free and reduced-priced meals from their schools during the week.
“This kind of involvement is rewarding for so many reasons,” said Ron Castle, senior vice president at Curry. “It is gratifying to all of us to give back to a community that has been home to this company for more than 90 years and it’s even more empowering to share the experience with the team at Curry.”
