Curry Celebrates the Service of Longtime Property Manager
Curry Real Estate Services celebrated the 24-year service of Cathy Verquer, property manager, at her retirement party held at Cascone’s Italian Restaurant on June 19, 2019.
Since September 1995, Cathy has exemplified the Curry standards of responsiveness and connectedness in her role over the years as property manager for the Gallatin, Village Gardens, La Chateau Duplexes, Lightburne, Briar Oak and Miller Street multi-family properties located throughout the Kansas City Northland.
A native of Claycomo, Missouri, Cathy has been connected to the Curry family from a young age as both her parents were a part of the Curry team. Her mother served as a housekeeper at Village Gardens and her stepfather was a maintenance technician at Northgate Mobile Estates, a property also formally managed by Curry. She joined the Curry team as an assistant property manager in 1995 and quickly advanced to the role of property manager, initially overseeing Village Gardens and Northgate. As Curry continued to grow its portfolio in the Liberty area, Cathy took on management of additional properties, eventually managing more than144 units during her tenure.
Her community connections proved invaluable in 2017 when Village Gardens suffered extensive damage due to a fire. Cathy’s upbringing in the area and her passion for networking allowed her to organize community clothing drives and secure other resources for residents in need while making sure they quickly relocated to alternate Curry housing. When Village Gardens was restored, Cathy oversaw resident move in, ensuring a smooth transition into the new units.
“We will of course miss having Cathy as part of our team, and her residents will miss her attentiveness and fun spirit, but we are excited for her next chapter of life,” said Rick Wertz, vice president at Curry Real Estate Services. “We wish Cathy a relaxing and fulfilling retirement.”
In retirement, Cathy is looking forward to traveling with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren.
